My current HP laptop has 3 USB ports and a HDMI port but that's it. I would transfer it all myself but with no viable camcorder it's going to be an issue.Īlso add to that the old computer I used to have had an IEEE port but that old laptop is on it's way out (it's the wife old one). Seeing the costs of companies that do transfers I find it way out of my cost level to get it done that way. Also I want to get the stuff on DV tape (about another 50 tapes) on to my computer (all footage will eventually end up on a backup HDD and DVD for safe storage). I have about 100 old 8mm tapes (PAL format) with footage for various dates as our family grew up and I want to get them in to a digital format. I currently have a canon EOS 7D whenever I feel the need to record footage. I even has a Sony 8mm VCR unit (that cost me a bucket load in the past). For many years I had a couple of 8mm camcorders and they all at one time or another gave up the ghost.
